CSUN Duo Sweeps Men's Soccer Weekly Honors
A 2-1 victory at No. 14 Utah Valley led to men’s soccer weekly accolades for CSUN teammates Jordan Kinoshi and Henrik Regitnig.
Kinoshi’s Game-Winner Knocks Off No. 14 Utah Valley
CSUN junior Jordan Kinoshi (London, England/Seton Hall) notched the Big West Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award as his goal defeated a nationally ranked opponent.
The Matadors defeated No. 14 Utah Valley, 2-1, with both goals coming in the first 16 minutes of the match.
Kinoshi provided the second – and eventual game-winning – goal at the 16:22 mark. He took a free kick from just outside of the 18 and buried it to the top left of the Wolverine net for a 2-0 lead. Kinoshi set up the opportunity as he got fouled by a UVU defender preceding the kick.
It was his only shot of the match.
Others nominated: Ross McPhie (Cal State Fullerton); Trevor Jackson (Sacramento State); Miguel Acevedo (UC Davis); Giovanni Godoy (UC Irvine)
Regitnig Helps Matadors To Nationally Ranked Win
CSUN goalkeeper Henrik Regitnig (Invermere, British Columbia/UMKC) made five saves in a win at No. 14 Utah Valley, garnering Big West Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Regitnig was key in helping the Matadors record the Big West’s first win over a ranked foe this season as he stopped five of the six shots the Wolverines put on frame.
The junior held strong throughout the match as Utah Valley outshot CSUN 12-4.
Others nominated: Corentin Ohlmann (Cal State Fullerton); James Del Curto (Sacramento State); Roy Boateng (UC Davis)
