BIG WEST AT A GLANCE

BACK-TO-BACK TITLES FOR ’BOWS

After sweeping Big West opposition at the conference tournament in Pismo Beach, Hawai‘i earned its second-consecutive Big West Tournament title. The ’Bows  defeated Cal Poly 4-1 to open competition then went on to take a 3-2 win over No. 5 Long Beach State in the winner’s bracket meeting before a 4-1 victory over the 49ers to claim the crown. 

BIG WEST SENDS TWO TEAMS TO NCAAS
For the first time in league history, two Big West representatives earned at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament in the eight-squad competition after Hawai‘i earned a #5 seed while Pepperdine earned a #6 seed.

RAINBOW WAHINE IN NCAA ACTION
The SandBows finished in third place at the NCAA Championship after falling 3-0 to Pepperdine Sunday in the semifinals. The Rainbow Wahine closed out the campaign with a program-best 29-7 mark.Following the championship match, freshman Amy Ozee and junior Hannah Zalopany were named to the All-Tournament team.

LONG BEACH MOUNTS HISTORIC SEASON
For the first time since the NCAA began sponsoring the sport (2016), Long Beach State earned an at-large bid to the Big Dance and finished with a program-best 26 wins.  The Beach ended its season with a 26-10 overal mark for a .722 win-percentage.

CAL POLY’S MEMORABLE CAMPAIGN
For the first time in the program’s history, Cal Poly received a top-15 ranking in the national poll. The Mustangs made history after taking down then No. 7 Georgia State (W, 4-1) and No. 12 Florida International (W, 4-1).  The Mustangs closed out the season with a third-place finish at the Big West Tournament and a 15-23 overall record.

POST-SEASON AWARDS

Long Beach State’s No. 1 pair in Nele Barber and Rachel Nieto and Hawaii’s top flight tandem in Mikayla Tucker and Morgan Martin earned All-American honors as announced by the Volleyball Coaches Association.
