UC IRVINE CLAIMS TOURNAMENT CROWN
In a thrilling 8-7 sudden victory title game at the Big West Tournament versus Long Beach State, UC Irvine claimed its sixth Tournament title on a sudden death goal from senior Kelsey Thornton. With the win, the Anteaters take a 14-game win streak into the NCAA Tournament.
MARY BROOKS IS MOST VALUABLE
UC Irvine junior Mary Brooks received most valuable player honors after a six-score performance in the semifinals and a four-goal outing in the championship. Her 10 goals total set a new Big West Tournament record as did her six scores against host, UC Davis, in the semis.
ANTEATERS TAKE INDY
UC Irvine earned the #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will first face California, an at-large selection, on Friday, May 12. This is the fifth NCAA Tournament appearance for the Anteaters as UCI travels to the IU Natatorium on the campus if IUPUI in Indianapolis. The ’Eaters will face the Bears for the first time this year in the single-elimination tourney and the winner of their matchup will face the winner of the UCLA/Wagner game that will take place earlier in the day, Friday.
