Brandon Bauman and UC Santa Barbara have a 6-stroke lead heading into the final day of the 2017 #BWCGolf Men's Championship.

Propelled my three players shooting 3-under 69, host UC Santa Barbara, who entered the second round of the Big West Conference Men’s Golf Championship in a three-way tie for first, fired a low-round score of 279 to take control of first place with a two-day total of 15-under 561 at the Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta, Calif.

Cal Poly sits six strokes back in second place after shooting 285 on day two for a team total of 567.  CSUN and Long Beach State are knotted in third with a score of 569.  Cal State Fullerton is fifth at 580 and is followed by UC Irvine (581) and UC Davis (583). With a score of 588, UC Riverside holds the eighth spot and Hawai’i rounds out the nine-team field at 593.

Individually, CSUN’s Felix Mory carded his second-consecutive 4-under 68 to maintain the top spot of the leader board with an 8-under 136.  One stroke back in second place is Long Beach State’s Joe Fryer, who blasted a 6-under 66 for a 36-hole total of 137. 

Three Gauchos fired 3-under 69 in round two and sit third-fifth with Nick Swanson leading the trio with a 6-under 138.  Brandon Bauman finds himself in fourth with 139 and Zach Smith sits fifth with a two-day score of 140.

Cal State Fullerton’s Matt Murphy fired the low round of the tournament thus far with a 7-under 65 and currently sits tied for seventh with four other players.

Final round of the championship tees off at 7:30 a.m. with splits tees.  Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine are slated to tee off from hole one and UC Davis, UC Riverside and Hawai’i will start at hole 10. The final threesome of UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly and CSUN tee off hole 1 at 8:20 am. Live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com and admission to the event is free. 

The six NCAA regional sites are Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas, Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash., Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind., University Club in Baton Rouge, La., and The Grove in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Competition at all six sites will be held May 15-17.

The 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship is slated for May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
