BIG WEST AT A GLANCE
For the second time in league history, the Big West readies for the conference championship. All six programs head to Pismo Beach for a two-day, double-elimination tournament after which a champion will be crowed. Last year, Hawai‘i claimed the league’s first-ever Tournament title and looks to repeat as a No. 2 seed. Long Beach State claimed the No 1 seed and will make its 2017 championship debut Friday at noon.
Earlier this season five of the Big West programs met at the Big West Challenge. Long Beach State went 4-0 that weekend and only dropped sets to UH and Cal Poly. The 49ers are currently 8-0 versus league competition this season. UH boasts a 5-1 mark against the BWC, its single loss suffered at the hands of the Beach. The AVCA Collegiate Beach Coaches Poll gave LBSU the edge at No. 5 this week with UH close behind at No. 6. All eyes are on the two programs this weekend in Pismo Beach.
