Central Coast Duo Takes Home Tennis Honors
Corey Pang of Cal Poly and Amanda Atanasson of UC Santa Barbara were unstoppable in both singles and doubles as they received Big West Tennis Athlete of the Week recognition.
Pang Posts Combined 5-0 Record
Cal Poly senior Corey Pang (Redwood City, Calif./Carlmont HS) earned his third Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week award this season after posting two singles and three doubles wins.
Pang won his No. 1 singles match against Hawaii’s Felix Albert, 6-2, 6-3, helping the Mustangs to a 7-0 sweep. He also registered a tough three-set win against UC Davis senior James Wade at No. 2 singles, taking a 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 decision despite the Mustangs falling in the match, 4-3.
The No. 49-ranked duo of Pang and Ben Donovan extended their win streak to nine straight after going 3-0 at No. 1 doubles. They defeated their UH counterparts, 6-1, and toppled the UC Davis tandem of Bryce McKelvie and James Wade, 6-2.

Atanasson Wins Three Matches Against Big West Foes
UC Santa Barbara junior Amanda Atanasson (Owings Mills, Md./Forest Trail Academy) had a banner three matches – winning three times in singles and twice in doubles – and securing the Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honor.
Atanasson picked up UCSB’s lone point in a 4-1 loss to Hawai‘i, knocking off Nikola Dolakova, 7-6, 6-3, at No. 5. She recorded two singles win in one day at two different sites, toppling CSUN’s Emma Roenholt by a 6-4, 6-2 score, and later dispatching Camila Tumosa of Loyola Marymount, 6-2, 6-4 as the Gauchos won both.
In doubles, she teamed with Stefani Stojic for two wins, including 6-1 over UH’s Marina Hruba and Alzbeta Houbova.
