Homayun, Kan Earn Pairs Team of the Week Honors
At the No. 5 position, Hawaii's Ari Homayun and Carly Kan claim the first Big West Pairs Team of the Week award of the 2017 season.
Sophomore Ari Homayun (Woodland Hills, Calif./Camino Real HS) and junior Carly Kan (Honolulu, Oahu/Missouri) helped the Rainbow Wahine go undefeated in its opening weekend including a pair of wins over No. 6 Arizona and No. 12 Grand Canyon. The tandem defeated Arizona's counter pair (21-11, 12-21, 15-8) to help UH to a road shutout of the Wildcats and a 3-0 finish at the Arizona Invitational. In its final contest of the weekend, the pair defeated nationally ranked Grand Canyon's No. 5 duo (21-14, 21-13).
The pair won three of their four matches in straight-sets, taking eight of nine sets played. The two further dominated competition winning each of its eight sets by seven-points or more.
This is the first award for the duo.
