Lemar Reaches Milestone, Fuels Aggie Offense In Wins

UC Davis senior Brynton Lemar (San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine HS) secured his third Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor this season on the strength of a combined 53 points in wins over CSUN and Long Beach State.

The 6-4 guard achieved a career milestone in becoming the 22nd player in Aggie history to score 1,000 career points.  Needing just five points to hit the mark, Lemar exploded for a game-high 28 against CSUN in the 96-85 victory.  Lemar knocked down a career-high eight three-pointers – in 11 attempts – and hit 9-of-12 overall from the floor.

Lemar scored 17 of his 28 in the first half, helping the Aggies set a Division I program record for most points scored in any half with 56.  He made contributions in other ways as well, adding six rebounds, four assists and a blocked shot.

In front of 5,873 fans and a national ESPNU television audience, Lemar registered a game-high 25 points, three rebounds, four assists and a steal in a 75-71 overtime victory against the 49ers.  He made 8-of-19 floor shots and sank 7-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Lemar has now scored 20 points or more in three straight games, and has hit that mark eight times this year.

The two wins improved the Aggies to 10-0 at home this season, and kept them tied for first in the Big West with UC Irvine.

Others nominated: Victor Joseph (Cal Poly); Jackson Rowe (Cal State Fullerton); Jaron Martin (UC Irvine), Eric Childress (UC Santa Barbara); Noah Allen (Hawai‘i)
