1. Softball Opening Weekend Featured No-Hitters, A Perfect Game And Top 25 Victory
Two starts, two no-hitters – this time a perfect game
– and two nine-strikeout games for Sierra Hyland as the Cal Poly softball team’s senior righthander helped the Mustangs open Saturday action at the Arizona State-hosted Kajikawa Classic with an 8-0, five-inning victory versus Creighton.
Long Beach State won the first game of the season in dominant fashion, 8-0 in five innings but the day ended bittersweet for the Beach after a one-run loss in the second game of the day with South Dakota. Senior Christina Clermont and Freshman Devyn Magnett shared the honors in the first combined no-hitter
in school history, as Long Beach State (1-1) held South Dakota (1-1) hitless in the opener. The following day Lauren Lombardi doubled home a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning against No. 22 Notre Dame, capping a pair of one-run comebacks for Long Beach State
against the Fighting Irish in a thrilling first game of the day.

3. UC Irvine’s Ritter Breaks Single-Season Record
With seven games still to play, sophomore Andee Ritter broke the single-season school record in 3-pointers made last Thursday night against Cal Poly. Ritter knocked down four triples to give her 66 on the season. Her 65th, which came in the third quarter, topped the 28-year old program record of 64, which was set by Kathy Lizarraga back in 1988-89. Ritter is also one of only three Anteaters to make at least 60 3-pointers in a season as she joins Lizarraga (1988-89 & 1990-91) and Wendy Gabbe (2002-03) in the elite group. Full Story
4. Virgil Scores Seven In Overtime Win Over LBSU
Junior Paige Virgil scored nine total goals, including a career-high seven in an 11-10 overtime victory over No. 14 Long Beach State, as 18th-ranked UC Davis split its first-day contests at the Triton Invitational women's water polo tournament at Canyonview Aquatic Center Saturday. The Aggies later fell to No. 5 Arizona State by a 19-9 final. Full Story
5. UCSB Alum Williams Registers Double-Double In NBA Win
UC Santa Barbara alum Alan Williams tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds in the Phoenix Suns victory over the Chicago Bulls last Friday. He is averaging double-double for his career while playing a minimum of 10 minutes per game.
