Fluker Dominates In Consecutive Road Wins
Earning her fourth Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award this season, CSUN sophomore Channon Fluker (Pasadena, Calif./Maranatha HS) averaged 17.5 points and 19.0 rebounds in two road victories.
The 6-4 center tallied her sixth career Player of the Week citation, moving her into a tie for ninth all-time in Big West history.
Fluker, who also won the award last week, helped the Matadors extend their winning streak to five straight games with exceptional interior scoring and rebounding. She collected 17 points and a career-high tying 20 rebounds in a 62-55 win at UC Santa Barbara Fluker delivered 13 of her 17 points in the decisive fourth quarter. She added two assists, a steal and a block in 32 minutes.
In a thrilling 70-67 overtime victory at UC Riverside, Fluker registered her conference-leading 16th double-double of the season with 18 points and 18 rebounds on 9-of-13 shooting. Her 18 boards upped her season total to 289, which ranks second in school history for a single season and puts her just six away from the program record.
Fluker has posted six straight double-doubles. For the week, she shot 56.0 (14-for-25) percent from the field. In conference play, she is averaging 15.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
