UC SANTA BARBARA’S HOT START
UC Santa Barbara got off to a hot start going 4-2 at its Winter Invite last weekend. The Gauchos took down ranked opponents in No. 22 Cal Baptist and No. 15 Indiana while adding wins over Marist and Pomona-Pitzer. The Gauchos will travel to Arizona for the Arizona State Invitational this week and look to build upon their early success.
SHORE MAKES WAVES
UC Santa Barbara senior Taylor Shore had a weekend netting a collective 11 goals over the two days of action including two three-score performances versus Marist and Pomona-Pitzer. The veteran helped her team start the year 4-2 with back-to-back hat tricks while making an impact on the defensive end as well.
HAWAI‘I HITS THE GROUND RUNNING
Hawai‘i recorded a 3-2 mark at the UCSB Winter Invite last weekend after winning its first three games over No. 10 Pacific, Marist and No. 11 UC San Diego. Femke Aan paced all scorers on the Saturday of Tournament play with a hat trick. The Bows had spread offensive success over the first weekend of play with six different scorers versus Marist and five in the following match over UC San Diego.
FAIRCHILD FARES WELL IN OPENING WEEKEND
CSUN junior Katelyn Fairchile recorded nine scores in four games and had double-figure scoring performances in all four matches including three nationally ranked teams in No. 15 Indiana, No. 2 USC and No. 8 Michigan. The junior also added 14 steals as the Matadors went 1-3 at the UCSB Winter Invite.
