Bertsch Scores Career-High In Victory
UC Davis sophomore Morgan Bertsch (Santa Rosa, Calif./Santa Rosa HS) poured in a career-high 27 points against San Francisco to garner her first career Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.
The 6-4 forward tallied her 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting as the Aggies rolled to the 78-58 road victory. She accumulated all of her offense in just 24 minutes of action.
Bertsch added six rebounds, three assists and two blocks, while tying a career-best with a perfect 7-of-7 performance form the line.
Her 27 points tied for seventh on the Aggie Division I single-game list. It was Bertsch’s third 20-point game of the year and the 13th of her career.
Her previous career-best was 26 points against UC Santa Barbara in last year’s conference tournament quarterfinals.
The two blocks gave her 23 for the season, as she has had at least one swat in every game this season.
Others nominated: Dynn Leaupepe (Cal Poly); Channon Fluker (CSUN); Madison Montgomery (Long Beach State); Simone DeCoud (UC Riverside); Drew Edelman (UC Santa Barbara)
