Montgomery Leads Long Beach State To Two Wins
Long Beach State senior Madison Montgomery (Englewood, Colo./Highlands Ranch HS) averaged 17.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two victories to notch Big West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades.
The 6-1 forward also shot 52.0 percent (13-of-25) from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point territory.
In just 20 minutes of action, Montgomery collected 13 points with five rebounds and a blocked shot as the 49ers topped Pacific, 66-58. She connected on 6-of-8 from the field.
Montgomery tied her career high with 22 points at Loyola Marymount, including the game-tying three-pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game to force overtime. She made 6-of-9 free throws while tallying seven rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks in the 81-78 triumph.
She helped extend Long Beach State’s winning streak to three straight and put the 49ers back above the .500 mark at 6-4.
