ICYMI: Here are the top five things that happened in the Big West last week….In Case You Missed It!


1. CSUN Sets Two Save Records
With back-to-back shutouts last week, CSUN women’s soccer set a new school record in shutouts for a season with 13.  Goalkeeper Jovani McCaskill, who notched 12 of the aforementioned shutouts to tie for first in the Big West annals, became CSUN’s all-time single season shutout leader. Full Story


2. UCR Women’s Golf Coach Mary Ritchie Named LPGA National Coach of the Year

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Teaching and Club Professionals (T&CP) membership named UC Riverside Women’s Golf Coach Mary Ritchie the 2016 National Coach of the Year.  Ritchie led the Highlanders in a historic season that included two regular season tournament titles, the first Big West Conference Championship in program history, and a trip to the NCAA Regionals at Stanford. She also served as the interim head coach of UC Riverside’s Big West Champion Men’s Golf Team in the fall of 2015.  Full Story


3. Season Previews: 2016-17 Men’s Basketball

4. UC Santa Barbara Wins Blue-Green Rivalry Game Over Cal Poly
Junior forward Ahinga Selemani and junior midfielder Kevin Feucht each added goals to their impressive 2016 tallies to lead UC Santa Barbara to a 2-1 win over Blue-Green rival Cal Poly in Saturday night’s rain-drenched contest at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.  Despite the inclement weather, the UCSB-Cal Poly matchup drew a crowd of 11,075, the sixth straight year that the Mustangs have sold out the Blue-Green game at Spanos.  Full Story


5.  Titans Sign Eight Year Old Coben Swanson As Part Of Team IMPACT

Eight-year-old Coben Swanson officially joined the Cal State Fullerton baseball team on Monday evening after signing his Letter of Commitment during a press conference held at Goodwin Field. With the entire 2016-17 Titan baseball team and a large student-athlete contingent in attendance, the Titans also pledged to join Coben in his fight against Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma (ALL).
