Diouf, Boateng Named Men's Soccer Players of the Week
Papi Diouf scored the fastest goal in Big West history and Roy Boateng led a stellar defensive effort in a pair of award worthy performances.
Diouf Scores Goal Eight Seconds Into Match
Papi Diouf (Dakar, Senegal/Louisville) is the Big West Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the fastest goal in conference history.
The CSUN forward netted the first Matador goal just eight seconds into the match in a 2-1 victory over Tulsa in Friday’s season opener.
It represented the second-fastest goal in NCAA Division I history. Diouf latched onto a lofted pass from Juan Fernando Samayoa and outran the Golden Hurricane defense, uncorking a shot past the goalkeeper to the far post.
Diouf’s third career goal helped the Matadors improve to 25-12-2 all-time in season openers.
