The UC Santa Barbara men’s soccer team earned a No. 13 ranking in Tuesday’s NSCAA Preseason Poll.

Fresh off its ninth Big West championship after winning the Big West North Division in 2015, the Gauchos also slated to face three squads in the preseason Top-25: No. 18 Ohio State (Aug. 28), No. 2 Akron (Sept. 12) and No. 16 UCLA (Sept. 17).  Central Coast rival Cal Poly, which the Gauchos play twice during conference play, received four votes in the poll.

UCSB finished 14-7-2 overall in 2015 and culminated its season with a trip to the Sweet Sixteen, the program’s seventh such appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Gauchos are led by two-time Big West Offensive Player of the Year Nick DePuy, a 2015 NSCAA First Team All-American who scored 15 goals, including a nation’s best eight game-winners.  DePuy is third in Big West history with 14 career game-winning strikes.

He will be joined by all-conference counterparts Kevin Feucht, Ahinga Selemani, Randy Mendoza and Jeff Quezada.
