ESPNU Women's Volleyball Release
ESPNU will televise the Hawai‘i at UC Riverside women’s volleyball match Friday, October 28 at 8:00 p.m. (PT) inside the SRC Arena.
Hawai‘i finished the 2015 season a perfect 16-0 in conference to wrap up its eighth Big West title, and third in the last four seasons. The Rainbow Wahine reached the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament, where a four-set loss to Minnesota ended their season at 29-2. UH ended the year ranked No. 7 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
The Rainbow Wahine will be led by reigning Big West Player of the Year, senior opposite Nikki Taylor, a second team AVCA All-American. Taylor led the Big West in kills per set (4.46), service aces per set (0.42) and service aces (44) last season. She recently helped the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team to the bronze medal at the 2016 Pan American Cup in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
UC Riverside will host the nationally televised match on a brand new SRC Arena floor. The Highlanders return All-Big West First Team libero Maddie Hubbell, who led the conference in digs (525) and digs per set (4.91) in 2015. UCR recorded its first double-digit win campaign since 2005, and set the program record for most Big West victories in a season.
