Barr Becomes Second Team All-American

Highlighting the final day of the NCAA Track and Field Championships was UC Davis senior Erika Barr earning second team All-American status thanks to an 11th place finish in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Barr, who ran a career-best 10:01.60 in Thursday's semifinals to finish among the top 12 entering Saturday's final televised on ESPN, finished 11th overall in a time of 10 minutes, 20.87 seconds. She is the second Aggie All-American in the event, joining Katie Fry from 2013.
UC Santa Barbara senior Jessica Emde also was in action at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field. She tied for 21st in the high jump with a top clearance of 5-08.
Junior Riley Cooks finished 20th overall in the heptathlon with 5,372 points as she competed in the final three events – the long jump, javelin and 800-meters. She had a mark of 16-06.5 in the long jump, and then sported her biggest effort of the afternoon in the javelin, picking up 708 points after placing sixth with a toss of 138-02.
Cooks finished the competition with a time of 2:39.85 in the 800m. On Friday, Cooks set personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles (13.59), high jump (5-06.5) and shot put (41-04.25).
