Sicard, Marlow Finish Seasons As Honorable Mention All-Americans

Juniors Lloyd Sicard of UC Irvine and Robert Marlow of Long Beach State finished off solid 2016 seasons at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., Wednesday.
Competing in the 110-meter hurdles, Sicard finished seventh in his semifinal heat, in 13.84 seconds. He placed 17th overall. This was Sicard's second straight NCAA appearance. The Big West Men's Co-Track Athlete of the Year reached the nationals thanks to winning his heat in 13.61 seconds at the West Preliminary Round in Lawrence, Kan., on May 28.
Marlow logged a 24th-place finish in the hammer with a top throw of 197-06 on his opening try. He fouled on his next two attempts. Marlow finished 12th in Flight 1. He qualified for Eugene on the strength of a 10th-place showing at the West Preliminary Round, where he came in 10th overall.
Two more Big West competitors spring into action Thursday at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field as LBSU's Fatima Vergara participates in the women's hammer at 2:00 p.m. (PT), followed by UC Davis senior Erika Barr in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Barr competes in Heat 2 at 5:02 p.m. (PT).
