Matt Lutz is +13 for the tournament, following a second round 76 in the NCAA Championships at Eugene Country Club.
Lutz started his second round with consecutive bogeys on holes 10 and 11, caused by three putts on both. On the par 4 12th, he took the putter out of play when he chipped his third shot in from the rough on the backside of the green for birdie. He got up and down for par out of the bunker on the par 13th to remain +1 for the day.
The par 3 water guarded 14th saw Lutz hit his tee shot into the bunker and fail make the sand save for his third bogey in five holes. A wayward tee shot on the reachable par 5 15th forced Lutz to layup instead of going for the green in two. He nearly holed his approach for eagle, leaving it just inches from the cup, he would tap in for birdie.
Lutz bogeyed 16 and doubled 17 to come in +4 on his first nine holes, after a par on 18.
To start his second nine of the day, Lutz made bogey on 1 and 2. He would stop the bogey train with four straight pars on 3-6, but made bogey on the long par 4 7th (492 yds). Lutz decided to layup on the drivable 349 yard par 4 8th. He then hit his approach to within 15 feet and drained the birdie putt for his third on the day.
Lutz's drive on his finishing hole of the day, the par 4 9th, missed the fairway along the right side along the tree lined path, forcing him chip out. He then hit his third to within 10 feet on the pin, and saved par to finish his second nine at +2 for a second round 76.
The top 15 of the 30 teams in Eugene will advance to Monday's individual championship round, along with the top 9 players not a top-15 advancing team.
Lutz gets his third round started at 2:12 pm on hole no. 1 Sunday.
