Pang, Valenzuela Continue Success In Singles
Corey Pang extended his singles win streak to 10 straight, while Alexis Valenzuela reeled off her sixth and seventh consecutive wins to highlight this week's tennis awards.
Pang Helps Keep Cal Poly Undefeated In Big West Play
Extending his streak of consecutive singles victories to 10 in a row, Cal Poly junior Corey Pang (Redwood City, Calif./Carlmont HS) collected Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.
Pang helped Cal Poly to two dominant Big West road victories against UC Riverside (4-0) and UC Irvine (4-1), bring the Mustang record to 3-0 in conference play.
He fought his way to a 7-6 (3), 6-0 victory over Kyle McCann of UCR on Saturday. Against Tyler Pham at the No. 3 position, he clinched the match against the Anteaters with his 6-3, 7-6 (3) triumph. Pang improved to 15-4 on the season in dual singles matches.

Valenzuela Topples Nation's 15th-Ranked Doubles Team
Junior Alexis Valenzuela (West Covina, Calif./West Covina HS) helped Cal State Fullerton notch a program record sixth conference win in garnering Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades for the second time this season.
Valenzuela won both of her singles matches and her lone doubles contest, teaming with Camille DeLeon and toppling the nation’s 15th-ranked doubles squad, Palina Dubavets and Stefani Stojic of UC Santa Barbara, by a 6-1 score.
She recorded one of the two Titan points in the 5-2 loss to UCSB, rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lou Adler at No. 1 singles.
In a 4-0 shutout of Cal Poly, Valenzuela delivered a 6-2, 6-2 win over Zoe Oedekerk, which helped CSF improve to 6-0 in Big West play and set the program record for league victories. Valenzuela, at 16-3 in singles overall, has the most wins by a titan since 2001.
