Cal State Fullerton junior Alexis Gonzalez (Covina, Calif./Oregon State) knocked in seven runs in a pair of non-conference victories to claim Big West Softball Field Player of the Week recognition.
The catcher spearheaded a 5-0 shutout of No. 23/25 Fresno State on Tuesday as she slammed a three-run home run in the first, her fourth of the year, to give the Titans all the run production they would need. She finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
Gonzalez slammed her second homer in as many days – and her team-leading fifth of the year – to help CSF to an 8-2 win at CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday. It was Gonzalez’s second three-run long bomb of the week that padded her squad’s lead to 7-1.
For the week, Gonzalez batted .429 with a 1.286 slugging percentage as the Titans extended their winning streak to five straight.

Ybarra Dominates Nationally Ranked Fresno State

The southpaw struck out a career-high 11 batters and did not issue a walk as she thoroughly mowed down the Fresno State lineup. She retired the first six batters she faced in the circle, including striking out the side in the second inning.
Ybarra tallied her seventh win of the season in collecting the complete-game shutout. She sports a 15.1 inning scoreless inning streak, and has succeeded in not allowing an earned run in 36.0 innings of action dating back to March 6.
