BIG WEST AT A GLANCE

CONFERENCE COMMENCES
The Big West kicks off conference play with two league showdowns on deck.  No. 7 UC Irvine will travel to the island Thursday while Long Beach State will travel north to take on the Aggies at UC Davis.

IN THE POLLS
While CSUN fell out of the polls earlier this season, all six Big West programs have once again received a national ranking for the second consecutive week.  Hawai‘i remains in the thop five and bests the league with a No. 4 ranking.  UC Davis continues to close in on the Rainbow Wahine as the Aggies have received their third No. 5 ranking this season.  The two teams will go head-to-head on April 2, at Hawai‘i.

BACKING THE BEACH

Senior Long Beach State goalkeeper Alexis Butler recorded a season-high 14 saves with only one goal allowed in LBSU’s 7-1 win over Bucknell.  With just a single score allowed, Butler recorded the lowest number of goas allowed for the 49ers since 2004.  With her performance, Butler raised her total saves to 86 and lowered her GAA to 7.35.
