CSUN sophomore Madeleine Sanchez (murrieta, Calif./Murietta Valley HS) scored 11 goals over the weekend between the CSUN Tournament and the LMU Invitational to earn Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors.
The attacker netted multiple goals in each match including four against No. 19 Harvard. The junior also tallied three steals and three assists versus the nationally ranked Crimson and with 10 total steals over the four contests, Sanchez recorded five versus Whittier alone.
With 11 goals and 15 total assists, the Matador contributed to 26 of CSUN’s 45 scores, 58 percent of the squad’s offensive output. Rounding out her performance in the pool, Sanchez also tallied four earned ejections and two field blocks.
This is Sanchez’s first weekly recognition on the year. The Matadors improved to 9-14.
