Long Beach State senior Nick Faust (Baltimore, Md./Maryland) played key roles in a pair of two-point victories to earn Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
It marked the third time that Faust has won the award this season.
Faust averaged 24.5 points and 7.0 rebounds to lead the Beach past Cal State Fullerton (75-73) and regular season co-champion Hawai‘i (74-72). He shot 46.9 (15 of 32) percent from the field and 78.9 (15 of 19) percent at the free throw line.
The 6-6 guard notched 30 points and added eight rebounds, two steals and block in the win over the Titans. He made 9 of 19 from the field, including three three-pointers. It was his second 30-point effort of the season.
In the win over the ‘Bows, Faust led the Beach in scoring a second time with 19 points and six rebounds on Senior Day. LBSU won for the ninth time in the last 10 games. Faust led the team in scoring for the 19th time this season. He hit a key basket with 1:18 remaining to tie the game at 72-72.
