Juniors Auproux, Razakasoa Secure Weekly Tennis Honors


Juniors Garrett Auproux of Cal Poly and Maeva Razakasoa of Long Beach State dominated the competition en route to weekly tennis accolades.

Auproux Helps Cal Poly Knock Off Ranked Foe

Cal Poly junior Garrett Auproux (Studio City, Calif./Burroughs HS) won three times to earn Big West Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades.

The No. 2 singles player for the Mustangs, Auproux tallied a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Fresno State’s Mantas Bugailiskis as Cal Poly won in convincing fashion, 7-0.

Auproux clinched the 4-3 match victory for Cal Poly over No. 70 Pacific, winning his duel against Daniel Alameh in a three-set thriller.  Auproux and Alameh split the first two sets by identical 6-1 scores, with Auproux rolling to a 6-3 set three win.

He also helped win the crucial doubles point against the Tigers as he and Tim Tan captured their match from the No. 2 position.

Razakasoa Rolls In Pair Of Singles Wins

Long Beach State junior Maeva Razakasoa (Cranves-Sales, France) went a perfect 4-0 in singles and doubles to secure Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.

Razakasoa won both of her singles matches in straight sets at No. 1.  Equipped with the third-highest ranking in program history, at No. 57 in singles, Razakasoa earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over UC Irvine’s Sarah Gong as the Beach rolled to a 6-1 triumph in Big West action.

She returned the next day to dispatch San Diego State’s Tami Nguyen, dropping only two games in the entire match and winning 6-0, 6-2. Razakasoa and partner Julie Gerard also went 2-0 in doubles, including a 7-6 (4) decision over UCI’s Andrea Duva and Vivien Dvali.
