Levin Records Third Double-Double as Beach Stretches Win Streak To Five
Gabe Levin (Oak Park, Ill./Loyola Marymount) secured his first Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor as the Long Beach State forward averaged 17.0 points per game in a pair of wins.
Levin shot 62.5 percent from the field, making 10 of his 16 shots, and also hit 13-of-16 (81.3%) from the charity stripe as the Beach improved to 8-3 in league play and remained in contention for the regular season title.
The sophomore carried Long Beach State to victory in a defensive struggle at UC Davis. He tallied his third double-double of the year with 23 points and 12 rebounds, adding two assists, a steal and three blocked shots to his stat line.
Levin connected on seven-of-12 from the field against the Aggies while the rest of the team shot 29.5 percent in the 57-48 victory. He scored 12 of LBSU’s final 20 points over the last 9:22 to seal the victory. Levin also made all eight of his free throw tries for the game.
Earlier in the week, Levin contributed 11 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block in a 73-70 win against Cal Poly.
Levin’s efforts helped LBSU extend its winning streak to a season-long five games.
