Cal State Fullerton's Christina Burkenroad Selected in NWSL Draft
Cal State Fullerton's Christina Burkenroad became the fourth Titan to be selected in the National Women's Soccer League Draft as the Orlando Pride drafted the southern California native earlier this month. Burkenroad was selected in the second round as the 15th overall pick.
The senior capped off her collegiate career with her third trip to the NCAA Tournament after a season that saw a league-leading 11 assists and a conference second-best 11 goals and 33 points.
Burkenroad was named the Big West Conference Midfielder of the Year and became the first-ever honoree to receive back-to-back Big West Tournament MVP awards.Cal State Fullerton claimed its third-straight tournament crown led by Burkenroad who recorded three scores and an assist for seven points in the semifinal match versus UC Santa Barbara, a conference record.
The midfielder will join the Orlando Pride for the 2016 season and the Pride will join the NWSL in the upcoming year.
