Three Cross Country Athletes Claim All-Region Status


UCSB's Bryan Guijarro and Anthony Ortolan joined Cal Poly's Peyton Bilo as NCAA All-Regional honorees.

Three Big West athletes claimed All-Region accolades following strong performances at the NCAA West Regional Meet Friday.

The UC Santa Barbara senior duo of Bryan Guijarro and Anthony Ortolan earned two of the honors on the men's side, while the remaining distinction went to Cal Poly's Peyton Bilo on the women's side. The regional was held at the Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle, hosted by the University of Washington

Guijarro was the top Big West competitor on the men's side, finishing the 10K in 11th place at 31:21.0. He didn't have to wait long for his teammate as Ortolan completed the course in 31:24.1 which was good for 13th.

Meanwhile in the women's race, Bilo was the lone Big West runner to finish in the top 25, running the 6K course in 21:00.5 which landed her in 12th place.

A total of 450 student-athletes (225 men and 225 women) earned the distinction by finishing among the top 25 individual finishers at one of the nine regional sites across the country. Only athletes competing for USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for the award.
