Cal Poly Duo Captures Cross Country Weekly Honors
Impressive performances from Cal Poly’s Swarnjit Boyal and Peyton Bilo at the Stanford Invitational earned the duo weekly cross country accolades.
Boyal Posts Top 10 Finish at Stanford Invitational
Competing in just his fourth overall meet as a Mustang, Cal Poly junior Swarnjit Boyal (Yuba City, Calif./River Valley HS) had an eighth place showing at the prestigious Stanford Invitational, earning him Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.
Boyal traversed the 8K golf course in 24:01.1 to lead the Mustangs for the third straight meet this season. His performance helped the Mustangs to third place among the 30 participating squads with a score of 97 – second out of the Division I programs. Host and No. 2-ranked Stanford won the meet with 62 points.
Among the field of 283 runners, Boyal was second among the Division I competitors, finishing behind individual medalist Sean McGorty (23:07.0) of Stanford.

Bilo Places Seventh at Stanford Invitational
Cal Poly freshman Peyton Bilo (El Dorado Hills, Calif./St. Francis HS) finished in seventh place among 255 competitors at the Stanford Invitational, an effort that garnered her Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.
Bilo completed the 6K course in a time of 20:56.0, leading Cal Poly to second place out of 30 competing teams with 65 points. Only host and No. 5 Stanford (44 points) finished ahead of the Mustangs.
A true freshman, Bilo placed within the top five at the initial two meets earlier this month.
