Krieghoff, Silas Named Women's Soccer Weekly Honorees

9/28/2015

Cal Poly forward Elise Krieghoff and UC Riverside netminder Elizabeth Silas excelled at their respective positions to earn this week’s women’s soccer accolades.

Krieghoff Provides The Offense In Pair Of Ties

Extending upon a conference record with her ninth career Big West Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award, senior Elise Krieghoff (Clovis, Calif./Buchanan HS) helped Cal Poly forge a pair of ties against impressive competition.

Krieghoff scored less than five minutes into the match against No. 6 BYU, potting her 48th career goal past the Cougar goalkeeper and to the far post.  It was only the second goal that BYU had allowed all season.

BYU equalized in the 20th minute and the final score ended up 1-1.  Cal Poly posted its second straight draw against an opponent ranked in the top 15, as it deadlocked 0-0 versus No. 13 Cal in its previous outing.

Krieghoff took a team-high six of the total 18 shots by the Mustangs against the Cougars.

Against a preseason top-25 Pepperdine squad, Krieghoff provided another score as the two teams battled to another 1-1 tie.  Krieghoff took a pass from near midfield, settled it, and put away a left-footed strike inside the far post for her 49th career goal.

She again led the Mustangs with three shots in the match.
