Taylor, Van Winden Earn Second Straight Weekly Honor
Nikki Taylor and Adlee Van Winden continued to play well in tournament action, while UC Riverside junior Maddie Hubbell joined the list of women’s volleyball weekly honorees.
Taylor Named All-Tournament
Earning her second straight Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week accolade, Hawai‘i junior Nikki Taylor (Honolulu, O’ahu, Hawai‘i/Kaiser HS) notched a tournament-high 53 kills to help her team go 2-1 at the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.
Taylor was named all-tournament after averaging 4.82 kills, 2.18 digs, 1.18 blocks and 0.55 service aces per set while hitting .267 (53-21-120).
The 6-3 outside hitter led UH in kills in every match, and has done so in all six contests this season. She totaled a game-high 22 kills versus Iowa in the tournament opener and added 15 in a sweep of American. She hit a season-high .542 (15-2-24) against American.
Against No. 25 UCLA, Taylor posted a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs and chipped in with two service aces for the third consecutive match.

Van Winden Continues Solid Play
Outside hitter Adlee Van Winden of Cal Poly (Napa, Calif./Vintage HS) secured her second straight Big West Women’s Volleyball Freshman Player of the Week award as she collected a team-best 61 kills through four matches.
Van Winden led the Mustangs to three road victories as she averaged 4.07 kills, 2.00 digs and 0.53 service aces per set.
She led all players with 20 kills in a five-set marathon win against Fresno State on Tuesday. Van Winden hit .368 (9-2-19) in a sweep of Coppin State, chipping in 10 digs and four service aces.
She had 14 kills in a sweep of Sam Houston State, then delivered 18 cutaways with 12 digs in a 3-1 loss at Baylor. Van Winden leads Cal Poly with 89 kills (3.87 per set) and she ranks fourth among Big West players in digs per set (3.87).

Hubbell Leads Highlander Defensive Effort
UC Riverside junior Maddie Hubbell (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty HS) captured Big West Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors as she led the team in digs in two out of three contests.
The defensive specialist averaged 5.45 digs per set as UCR went 1-2 last week.
Hubbell set a career high with 32 digs in a tough 3-2 loss to Nevada. She had 12 digs in a three-set win over Grand Canyon and added 16 digs in a loss to Portland.
She tops the Big West in total digs with 127 and digs per set at 4.88.
