UCD, UCI Season Comes To An End At Regionals

UC Davis and UC Irvine wrapped-up the postseason at the NCAA Regionals with the Aggies tying for ninth and the Anteaters finishing 10th.
The Anteaters, making their 13th postseason appearance, shot a final-round 287 to finish with a 54-hole total of 865 to finish the NCAA Lubbock Regional at The Rawls Course in 10th place. Texas claimed the regional title with a score 830. Texas Tech (834), Duke (844), Auburn (845) and Houston (847) join the Longhorns in advancing to the NCAA Finals.
Senior Peter Fernandez, firing a 1-under 70 in the final round, led UC Irvine at the regional with a total score of 215 to place 33rd. Jacob Schulze shot 73 on Saturday and placed 39th with a 216 point total. David Kim carded a 72 and finished 46th at 217 and fellow freshman Jonathan Young placed 69th at 226. Rounding out the five-man team is Bryan Shin, who placed 71st after registering 230.
After registering its best round of the event with a 2-under 286, UC Davis concludes its postseason tied for ninth at the NCAA Bremerton Regional after shooting a three-day total of 870. UAB carded 21-under 843 to lead the 14-team field on the 7,115-yard Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club. Along with the Blazers, South Carolina (845), USC (847), TCU (854) and Washington (854) are headed to the NCAA Finals.
Luke Violo and Ryan Han paced the Aggies as they tied for 15th with a total of 213. Both players shot two of the three rounds under-par with Violo firing 3-under 69 today and Han posting his second-straight 2-under 70. Patrick Soli shot 221 to tie for 39th and Mike Brockington found himself knotted for 52nd after tallying 223. Matt Seramin fired his best round of the tournament today with a 3-over 75 for a three-day score of 232 to place 70th.
De Los Santos, one of 10 individuals who competed at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., struggled in the final round of the NCAA San Diego Regional, tallying an 84 for a three-round score of 230. As a result, he slipped from 19th to a tie for 61st where he would conclude the event.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments were conducted with the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional advancing to the finals. The finals will be conducted May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. South Florida is the host institution for the 2015 championships.
