UC IRVINE IS BACK-TO-BACK REGULAR SEASON CHAMPION
Big West regular-season champion, UC Irvine, earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big West Women’s Water Polo Championship, April 24-26, at Hawaii’s Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. The Anteaters head into the championship with a 4-1 mark in league and an overall 18-7 record on the season. This season marked the ’Eaters’ sixth regular season title as they seek their sixth tournament crown this weekend. CSUN claimed the No. 2 seed after finishing 3-2 in conference action. Host Hawai‘i has clinched a No. 3 seed with a 3-2 mark in league for an overall 15-8 record and will face Long Beach State in its first matchup in Honolulu. UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara complete the field.
BIG WEST IS BEST
For the second consecutive season, all six participating members of the Big West Conference have received votes in the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s weekly poll. UC Irvine paves the way at No. 5 for the 11th week in a row while Hawai‘i trails at No. 6 for the fifth week.
HAWAI‘I HOME STRETCH
While UC Irvine owns five of the six tournament titles, Hawai‘i claimed the 2013 crown and looks for another taste of championship victory at home.
