UC Davis sophomore Keelia Houston (Davis, Calif./Davis HS) led her squad to an upset victory in league play to garner Big West Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week honors.
The attacker notched a hat trick and scored the game-winning goal with 3:13 left in the fourth quarter to lead the Aggies to a 9-7 win over No. 8 CSUN in a Big West contest last Friday. It marked the team’s third victory of the year over a top-10 team, and the first since San Diego State at the UCI Invitational on Feb. 22.
Houston’s three goal performance was her first since a four-goal effort against Michigan on Feb. 8. In addition to her scoring contributions, Houston also earned a drawn exclusion and had a key field block early in the fourth quarter.
Her efforts helped the 11th-ranked Aggies record their first Big West victory of the year.
Others nominated: Jade Wentz-Fitzgerald (UC Santa Barbara)
