UCR's Hefflin Gains At-Large Entry Into NCAA Championships

UC Riverside's Raquel Hefflin will end her cross country career in the Midwest as the senior was selected for the NCAA Championships.

Hefflin gained entry as an at-large participant after finishing eighth at the West Regional. She finished that race in 20:27.1 and was the lone Big West finisher, men's or women's, in the top 10. She is the second Highlander to reach nationals, following the great Brenda Martinez in 2007.

The NCAA bid caps an impressive senior year for Hefflin as she was named the 2014 Big West Athlete of the Year, won the conference 6K at the league championships and set several course records along the way.

Indiana State will host the championships on Nov. 22 at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. The womens race will begin at noon ET, followed by the mens race at approximately 1 p.m. A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast on
