The next step for the Big West cross country clubs takes place in Stanford, Calif., as the NCAA West Regional meet beckons for those with national championship aspirations.
Every Big West club will be a part of a 38-team field in the regional, held on Stanford Golf Course Friday morning. The women will race first at 11 a.m. in a 6K, while the men will run a 10K at noon.
The top two teams in each of the men’s and women’s races, as well as the top four individuals not on those teams (as long as they place in the top 25) will earn passage to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
This meet is among nine regionals across the country that will automatically qualify 18 teams and 36 individuals for each gender. In addition, 13 teams and two individuals will be selected at-large on Saturday by the NCAA Cross Country committee.
