UC Riverside Duo Tabbed Cross Country Athletes of the Week
UC Riverside seniors Seth Totten and Raquel Hefflin parlayed sterling performances at the prestigious Stanford Invitational into Big West Cross Country Men’s and Women’s Athlete of the Week accolades.
Totten Sets PR at Stanford Invitational
Seth Totten (Newhall, Calif./Golden Valley HS) finished seventh overall among 361 individual runners at the Stanford Invitational as the UC Riverside senior earned Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.
Totten’s time of 23:46 was a personal-best for an 8k race, as he finished just six seconds back of fifth place, and 11 seconds behind third.
He helped the Highlanders finish ninth out of 17 teams, and ahead of Big West counterparts UC Irvine (11th), Long Beach State (13th) and CSUN (16th).

Hefflin Places Second at Stanford Invitational
Senior Raquel Hefflin (Compton, Calif./Beverly Hills HS) collected the Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week award after finishing second overall out of 330 runners at the Stanford Invitational.
Her second place finish is the best for the Highlanders at a national meet in the program’s history. Hefflin’s time of 20:39 made her the top finisher from any school in the Big West, and was just eight seconds behind the winner, Washington State’s Abby Regan.
Hefflin’s performance helped the Highlanders place sixth among 21 scoring teams in the Division I category. They beat out five other Big West schools in UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State, CSUN, UC Irvine and Hawai‘i.
