Cal State Fullerton teammates Daniel Ramirez and Emily Taylor were selected the Big West Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week after strong performances at the Mustang Challenge.
Ramirez Finishes Second In Mustang Challenge
Cal State Fullerton sophomore Daniel Ramirez (Buena Park, Calif./Buena Park HS) captured second place at the Mustang Challenge to garner Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.
Ramirez crossed the line in 25:59.5 over the 8K course at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Calif. He shaved 50 seconds off his previous 8K time at the Mark Covert Classic that took place on Aug. 30.
Ramirez helped the Titan men to a second place team finish.

Taylor Leads Titans Again
Cal State Fullerton junior Emily Taylor (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina HS) notched Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors after leading the team’s fourth place effort in the Mustang Challenge.
Posting a time of 18:52.2, Taylor finished 13th among collegiate runners on the 5K Central Park course in Santa Clarita, Calif. This was the second consecutive event that Taylor was the top Fullerton finisher.
