Totten, Moreno Gather Up Cross Country Weekly Awards
Seth Totten of UC Riverside and Daniella Moreno of UC Santa Barbara captured the Big West Cross Country Men’s and Women’s Athlete of the Week awards with stellar efforts at the UC Riverside Invitational.
Totten’s Fourth Place Finish Keys Strong UC Riverside Effort
UC Riverside senior Seth Totten (Newhall, Calif./Golden Valley HS) utilized a top-five finish at the UC Riverside Invitational to gain Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.
He placed fourth overall out of 239 runners at the UC Riverside Invitational, finishing with a personal record time of 24:09.2 on the 8K course. He helped the Highlanders finish fourth among a field of 29 squads, including five that were ranked regionally.
Totten’s effort aided UCR in placing ahead of Utah Valley, ranked 14th in the mountain region, and Long Beach State, ranked 14th in the west region.

Moreno Wins UC Riverside Invitational For Second Straight Year
UC Santa Barbara senior Daniella Moreno (Downey, Calif./Warren HS) notched Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors after taking individual medalist honors at the UC Riverside Invitational for the second year in a row.
Moreno traversed the scenic UCR Agricultural Operations course over 6,000 meters in 20:25.5, outpacing her nearest competitor by nearly eight seconds. She led a strong Gaucho contingent that finished runner-up to meet champion Utah Valley in a 23-team field.
