UC Davis senior Lauren Wallace and Hawaii senior Amanda Alvarez concluded their collegiate careers with distinction as both achieved All-American status on the third day of the 2013 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships at Historic Hayward Field.

Wallace became the first Aggie to capture first-team All-America honors by virtue of qualifying for the final in the 800-meters.  The Ukiah native proceeded to break her own school record, running the race in 2:02.91 to finish eighth.

LSU's Natoya Goule won the event in 2:00.06.

The previous best for Wallace occurred three weeks when she claimed the Big West championship in the 800 with a time of 2:03.39.

Wallace, the first member of the Aggie women's team to qualify for a laned race final, posted the fifth-fastest time in Wednesday's prelims.

Alvarez, a native of Vancouver, Wash., captured 16th place in the triple jump with a top mark of 41-11.5, earning second-team All-American accolades.  Alvarez, who finished seventh in her flight, fouled on the first two attempts and landed her 41-11.5 mark on the third attempt.  Wallace needed to reach the top nine to advance to the finals and receive three more jumps.

San Diego State's Shanieka Thomas won the national title with a clearance of 46-4.75.

UC Riverside senior Ryan Swafford is the last Big West representative to compete in at nationals as he seeks a national title in the triple jump.  Action begins Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
