NCAA Men's Golf Regionals Begin Thursday

The 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships gets underway this week and the Pacific men’s golf team, along with UC Davis’ Tyler Raber and UC Santa Barbara’s Glen Scher, are set to compete in the three-day tournament.

The 2013 Big West Men’s Golf Co-Champions, who earned the conference’s automatic berth following a playoff victory, are headed to Palouse Ridge Golf Club (7,309 yard, Par-72) in Pullman, Wash., May 16-18 for the regional.  The Tigers are participating in the postseason for the second time in three seasons following the 2010-11 Tigers who earned an at-large bid. This will be the Tigers’ 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Raber and Scher were part of the individual at-large selections.  Raber, who recorded three top-10 finishes this season and paces the Aggies with a 72.3 stroke average, will be joining Pacific in Pullman, Wash., while Scher travels to Tempe, Ariz., to compete on the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

Scher claimed two individual medalist honors en route to six top-10 finishes this year, including an 8th-place finish at the Big West Conference Championship.  He currently owns a 72.5 stroke average to lead the Gaucho team.

With six regional sites, the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional advance to the championship at the Capital City Club Crabapple Course in Atlanta, Ga., May 28-June 2.
