
Three-time Big West Women's Golf Player of the Year Demi Runas carded a 2-under 70 to lead the UC Davis Aggies on day two of the NCAA Central Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla. The Aggies shot 12-over 300 and are 15 over after 36 holes, placing them in a three-way tie for sixth with one round remaining.
Runas, who entered the tournament ranked No. 19 by Golfweek, launched into a tie for 16th after besting her first round score by six strokes for a two-day total of 146. Freshmen Andrea Wong and Betty Chen each carded 75's and are tied for 30th while sophomore Beverly Vatananugulkit had an 80 and is tied for 39th at 5-over. Amy Simanton shot 82 to tie for 105th with a two-round total of 158.
Shooting a 1-under 71 on the second day of the NCAA West Regional lifted UC Irvine's Luciane Lee to 17th place with a score of 145. Lee, along with teammate Michelle Park, are competing as individuals in the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. Park enters the final round of competition knotted in 89th with a two-day score of 157 (78-79).
Seventy-two teams and 18 individuals were selected for regional competition at three sites, which includes the east regional at Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala. Eight teams and two individuals from each regional move on to the national finals which are scheduled for May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga.
The final round of the regionals is Saturday.
