
Pacific, who entered today's round in fourth place, turned in the lowest team total of the day, 1-over 289, to move atop the leaderboard following the second round of play at the 2013 Men's Golf Championship at Soboba Springs Country Club in San Jacinto, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton maintained the second slot after firing 298 for a two-round score of 591, four strokes back from the first-place Tigers (587). Two-time defending champion UC Davis carded 592 to sit third and is followed by Long Beach State (593) and Hawai'i (596). UC Santa Barbara improved 13 strokes on the second day for a two-round total of 597 (305-292), good enough for sixth place. Rounding out the 10-team field are UC Irvine (598), UC Riverside (607), Cal State Northridge (610) and Cal Poly (611).
Cal State Fullerton's Corey Gard owns sole possession of the top individual spot with a two-day score of 140 (69-71). Fueled by a 3-under-par 69, Pacific's Eric Sugimoto vaulted to second with a score of 143 while Hawai'i's Nainoa Calip sits third at 144 (69-75). UC Davis' Jonny Baxter, Cal State Northridge's Kyler Sauer and UC Santa Barbara's Glen Scher are knotted in fourth after carding 145 in the first two rounds.
The final round of play tees off at 7:15 a.m. with No. 9 Cal State Northridge and No. 10 Cal Poly. No. 7 UC Irvine and No. 8 UC Riverside begin play at 7:55 a.m. and No. 4 Long Beach State, No. 5 Hawai'i and No. 6 UC Santa Barbara hit the course at 8:35 a.m. The top three teams, No. 1 Pacific, No. 2 Cal State Fullerton and No. 3 UC Davis get underway at 9:25 a.m. Awards will be presented following the final round.
