The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team (6-8, 2-1 Big West) defeated UC Irvine in their Big West home opener, 56-46 on Wednesday night. Rookie guard Ashleigh Karaitiana poured in a game-high 16 points while Kamilah Martin grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds en route to the win.
