The UC Riverside men's basketball team cut an 18-point lead to five early in the second half, but that was as close as the Highlanders would get as they dropped an 81-69 decision to Texas State in the final game of the 2012 CARRS/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout for both clubs.

Cal State Northridge Falls Late to BYU, 87-75


A sellout crowd of 20,900, the largest crowd to witness a Matador game in school history, saw the Matadors battled back from a 46-40 halftime deficit and a 66-55 deficit with 9:47 to play to take a 74-73 lead with 4:01 to play. But a 14-1 run in the final 3:44 of the contest proved to be CSUN's downfall, 87-75, to end the Matador's six game winning streak to start the 2012-13 season.

UC Irvine Stopped By Waves In Malibu


Daman Starring and Chris McNealy combined for 40 points, but Pepperdine controlled the paint as the Waves defeated the Anteaters, 72-62, in a non-conference game Saturday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
