Big West Schools Remain Undefeated In Team Olympic Competitions

Representatives from Big West schools are a combined 16-0 in men's and women's team competitions at the London Olympic Games through July 31 action.

Men's representatives of basketball (2-0), beach volleyball (2-0), indoor volleyball (2-0) and water polo (2-0) are unbeaten so far in group or pool play.  The indoor volleyball team, the 2008 gold medalist in Beijing, has three matches remaining in Group B with alums from Long Beach State (David Lee, Paul Lotman and David McKienzie) and UC Irvine (Brian Thornton, David Smith) representing the USA. 

On the women's side, former Long Beach State standout Misty May-Treanor and partner Kerri Walsh-Jennings are 2-0 in pool play on the beach volleyball court.  Cal State Fullerton alumnus Karen Bardsley helped Great Britain win its group with a 3-0 record and advance onto quarterfinal action against Canada Friday.  Participants from Big West schools in both indoor volleyball (2-0) and water polo (1-0) have also made the win column.
