A few Big West Conference mascots got together this past weekend at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club for a little competition as part of the club's youth clinic Saturday. Cal State Fullerton's Tuffy the Titan, Cal State Northridge's Matty the Matador, Long Beach State's Prospector Pete and UC Irvine's Peter the Anteater competed in three different golf skills with the kids on the putting green and at the driving range.
The mascots and kids worked as teams to see who could putt the most balls into the hole from three feet, who had the longest drive with "the big club" and who could make the longest putt. Peter the Anteater took home the quick fire challenge in putting after some shenanigans disqualified Prospector Pete's team in the first round. Prospector Pete got revenge in the long drive competition, narrowly beating out Matty the Matador's ten foot wiffle ball launch. In the final competition, Matty the Matador's team had the smallest kid in the competition putt the ball closest to the pin, narrowly beating out a child on Tuffy the Titan's team.
It is the second time Arroyo Trabuco and the Big West have teamed up to host the event.
