The greatest rivalry in college soccer takes center stage as a very busy week begins Tuesday and runs all the way through the end of the weekend.
Cross Country
The UC Irvine and Pacific cross country teams are heading south for the Triton Classic hosted by UC San Diego Saturday, Oct. 8. The women's 6K kicks off the meet at 9:00 a.m. and is followed by the men's 8K at 9:50 am. Last year, the Pacific women's program, paced by Melisa Hopper's time of 25:09.2, finished 10th at the event. UC Irvine did not participate in the Invitational last year.
Cal State Fullerton is gearing up for the 22nd Annual Vanguard Invitational this Saturday at the Fairview Park in Costa Mesa, Calif. The women are slated to run a 5K while the men are scheduled for an 8K in the event that gets underway at 9:00 a.m. Host Vanguard won the men's event in 2010 and Azusa Pacific picked up the womens title.

Men's Soccer
The greatest rivalry in college soccer takes center stage on Friday when Cal Poly hosts Blue-Green rival No. 13 UC Santa Barbara at Spanos Stadium. 8,125 watched the Mustangs topple the Gauchos in overtime last season on Chris Gaschen's golden goal (watch). But before they meet, both squads will host conference games Tuesday night, with Cal Poly welcoming Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara squaring off against Cal State Fullerton.
In a key national match-up, two Top-10 teams will clash Saturday, as No. 7 UC Irvine heads to Omaha to take on No. 4 Creighton.
For the seventh year, select games will be broadcast by the institutions on BigWest.TV, the conference's video streaming initiative in partnership with CBS College Sports.

Women's Soccer
Unbeaten in league play, No. 22 Long Beach State (3-0-0) faces a formidable pair of foes in Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine, which are currently tied for second place. The 49ers bring a six-match win streak into Friday's road contest at Matador Field.

UC Santa Barbara finds itself in sole possession of first place in the Big West Conference standings after downing UC Irvine to improve to 4-1. The Aggies of UC Davis and preseason favorite Long Beach State are tied for second with a 4-2 mark and are followed by defending champion Cal State Fullerton in fourth at 3-2 after dropping two straight matches. The fifth-place Pacific Tigers collected back-to-back conference victories to even their record to 3-3.
