Men's and women's soccer begin the chase for Big West titles this week, joining women's volleyball in conference play. The cross country slate is highlighted by the Pacific Tiger Invitational Saturday.
Cross Country
Two meets are on tap this Saturday, with just four squads competing. Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine and UC Riverside will head to the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Oregon while Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine will be at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, California.

Men's Soccer
A trio of schools – Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara – are ranked nationally in the men's soccer top 25 as an ultra competitive league schedule begins this week. The Big West compiled an impressive 33-16-8 non-conference record over the season's first month.
For the seventh year, select games will be broadcast by the institutions on BigWest.TV, the conference's video streaming initiative in partnership with CBS College Sports.

Women's Soccer
No. 18 UC Irvine, which made Big West history as the first unbeaten and untied women's soccer program (8-0-0) in 2010, starts its quest for a second straight regular season title with a pair of matches in northern California against UC Davis and Pacific this week.

Women's Volleyball
If the first week of Big West play is any indication of what the future holds, the quest for the 2011 title is going to be a tough-fought battle. Five of the eight matches played opening weekend went five sets, while the remaining three resulted in sweeps. Some of the highlights were preseason favorite No. 21 Long Beach State falling in five sets to UC Santa Barbara and defending champion Cal State Fullerton continuing where it left off last season, going 2-0. The Gauchos victory marked their first win at Long Beach since November 2004.
